General Safety Guidelines:

Safety- should be everyone's top priority. 

Proper Etiquette with a Firearm at All Times- reckless, irresponsible or unsafe conduct with a firearm is completely unacceptable.

Always treat every gun as if it were loaded, even if you know it's not.

Muzzle Discipline- make sure your guns stays pointed in a safe direction at all times, or at least until on target and prepared to fire.

Trigger Discipline- make sure to keep your finger out of the trigger guard until on target and prepared to fire.

Know Your Target and what lies beyond.

Educate Yourself- understand how to safely and effectively operate your handgun.

Routine Maintenance- make sure your handgun stays in proper working condition.

Take Responsibility- use the correct ammunition for your handgun and double check all equipment before loading.

Safety Equipment- always wear eye and ear protection while shooting.

Zero Tolerance- never use drugs, alcohol or any other substance which could impair your mental or physical capabilities before or during shooting.

 

CHL Specific Range Safety Guidelines:

Have Fun- the shooting test is considered to be the most fun part of the course. With your help and determination, we can ensure that it remains safe & enjoyable for everyone!

Know How to Shoot well in advance of the shooting test. The CHL course will not teach a student how to shoot and instructors are strictly prohibited from teaching students how to shoot as part of the course.
  • If you need to learn how to shoot, we have knowledgeable and friendly instructors available for hire.
  •  If interested, please contact us to schedule a private lesson.

Follow Instructions- please listen carefully, fire the correct number of shots and do not load your handgun until asked to do so.

Final Inspection- after the shooting test, please make sure your handgun is unloaded, safe and secured before exiting the firing line.

�Practice Makes Perfect�- there's no such thing as perfroming too well on the shooting test.
  • Being prepared in advance is the single greatest ally to success.
  •  Remember, "amateurs practice until they get it right, professionals train untill they get it wrong".
  • Shooting is one of the most enjoyable activities on the planet...please keep it safe and do it often.
