The Mossberg 590 was first introduced in the 1980's and was later adopted by the U.S. Military for combat operations. Born of the 500 series that appeared in the 1960's, it has a 9- shot capacity and is outfitted with a military style bayonet lug.

Mossberg's Model 590 was the only pump action shotgun to ever pass Mil-Spec 3443 requirements. Throughout those rigorous tests, all shotguns were frozen, baked, salt water immersed, coated with sand and then dropped to measure safety, function and durability. Parts interchangeability was mandated and the guns had to pass a 3,000 round buckshot endurance test.

The 590 Shockwave Raptor bird's head pistol grip is uniquely shaped to minimize felt recoil. Classified as fully-compliant by the BATFE, this model has a 26.37" OAL and requires no Tax Stamp for transfers.

This 590 includes all the features that have made Mossberg pump-actions the choice for millions worldwide: ambidextrous safety, dual extractors, positive steel-to-steel lockup, twin action bars, and a smooth operating anti-jam elevator.

The 590 Shockwave features a convenient clean-out tube magazine cap, a front bead sight, and 'corn cob' strapped forend to keep shooter's lead hand clear of the muzzle. It has a 14" heavy-walled barrel with a cylinder bore. The shotgun is chambered for 2-3/4" shells, but can easily handle jaw rattling 3" magnum buckshot.

A bead front sight is threaded onto the barrel and gets on target quickly.

All metal parts wear a Parkerized finish. The buttstock has a nicely textured grip with a non- slip recoil pad for positive shoulder engagement. A circular grip forend provides solid traction while racking rounds in and out of the chamber.

Overall, the Mossberg 590is a rugged, ultra reliable, affordable and user friendly self- defense shotgun.
