In a World of Compromise, Some Don't. The HK P30SK is outfitted with an outstanding 3.27�� cold hammer forged polygonal rifled barrel, which increases accuracy, muzzle velocity and barrel life. Machined from solid billet steel, the P30S slide and metal parts wear HKs proprietary �Hostile Environment� finish.

This is essentially a black oxide coating that is highly corrosion and wear resistant against just about everything. Another important feature is the patented recoil system that make this gun extremely soft shooting.

The frame and grip on the HK P30S has a fiber re-enforced polymer make it one of the toughest handguns in history. From the checkering on the front strap-- to its ergonomic grip geometry-- the unique frame was specifically designed to fit the shooters hand like a glove.

This is accomplished through HK's revolutionary interchangeable grip panels. Quite a few pistols on the market today have interchangeable backstraps, but the engineers at Heckler & Koch understood that most shooters would also want to make palm swell adjustments to better fit their hand. Therefore, the P30S not only comes with three interchangeable backstraps (in small, medium, and large), but also interchangeable side panels as well.

Since the pistol is hammer driven, HK has equipped the P30SK with a traditional double action mode that the company refers to as "Variant 3". Variant 3 means that this extended paddle control lever, which also doubles as the decocker, is located on the side rather that back of the frame.

Although criticized by some for its heavy double action trigger pull compared to striker driven designs, the pistol is nevertheless incredibly safe without the possibility of an "accidental" discharge. In other words, a shooter has to intentionally squeeze the trigger like they mean it to fire the handgun. After the initial first shot, the gun resets to a relatively smooth single action mode and stays that way until empty.

The HK P30S is one of the most well crafted and beautifully designed pistols ever made. In fact, the gun will easily and reliably feed all known hollow point ammunition. An integral Picatinny rail allows the shooter to easily attach tactical accessories such as a light and/or laser. The ambidextrous extended slide release operates effortlessly.

An advanced polymer frame is stronger than steel of the same dimensions, where the gun is very lightweight-- weighing in at only 23.9 ounces unloaded. Its surface texture and integral finger grooves provides positive traction and greatly improve overall performance and control when firing.

The 3- dot fixed sights are low profile and get on target extremely well. Front and rear cocking serrations allows for easy slide manipulation-- from racking a round in the chamber to safely performing press checks.

The magazines are very well made and sport a black finished steel body. A pair of 10- rounders are included with the package. Unlike many double stack magazines on the market, they are fairly easy to load.

HK was the first to develop a magazine release that is part of the trigger guard and the P30SK�s paddle style release allows the magazine to easily drop free. The pistol also has a flair in the magazine well that greatly enhances the reloading process.
