Low prices on the Daniel Defense DD4 RIII M-LOK FDE 16" .223/5.56 start at Champion Firearms-
Over-the-Top Quality. The
AR-15 represents the most successful weapon's platform in history.
Never before has a military firearm evolved so rapidly, so completely
and in so many directions. It has often been said that the AR-15 is the
erector set of the shooting world, being set- up, changed, accessorized,
rethought, rebuilt and put together to suit almost any need.
This
precision instrument has successfully served as a military, sniper, law
enforcement, defensive, hunting, competition and target rifle in more
calibers and configurations than one can possible imagine. No other
firearm can make that claim. Many argue that it is the most versatile
military small arm ever invented and after 60- years of service, is
still going strong today as our nation's primary battle rifle.
Daniel
Defense is a privately owned manufacturer specializing in custom built
AR-15's and tactical accessories with facilities located in both Black
Creek, Georgia plus Ridgeland, South Carolina. Precision crafted from
top quality materials with meticulous attention to detail, the Daniel
Defense M4 carbine has proven to be a benchmark of excellence in the
shooting industry.
In fact, the company is very highly regarded
among military, law enforcement, tactical professionals and civilian
marksman alike. For design and development, the DDM4 underwent rigorous
torture testing, which included simulations for harsh desert
environments, water submersion, shrapnel blasting, explosion blasting,
being run over by a vehicle and then dropped from heights up to 100 feet
-- followed by function and accuracy testing.
At
the heart of the design is its mid- length direct gas impingement
system, which is known to have a smoother recoil impulse and allows for
quick but precise rapid fire. Gas is tapped from the barrel as the
bullet passes by the port located above the rifle's front sight base,
which is CNC machined from 4140 steel and salt bath nitride finished.
The
gas then rushes into the port and down a gas tube located above the
barrel into the upper receiver. From there, the gas tube funnels into
the bolt carrier. This gas system unlocks the bolt and begins the
cycling process, but only after the bullet has exited the barrel. Direct
impingement has several advantages over gas piston systems. For semi-
automatic rifles with a barrel length of 16" or greater, impingement
AR-15s are lighter, easier to free float the barrel, typically more
accurate and much less expensive to manufacture.
Daniel Defense
is now only one-of-five companies worldwide producing cold hammer forged
barrels. The V7 has a standard profile 16.1" barrel that is constructed
from machine gun grade 4150 chrome vanadium steel that is then chrome
lined to make it less susceptible to fouling, reduce corrosion, enhance
feeding and increase barrel life.
While chrome lined barrels
have never been known for tack driving accuracy, Daniel Defense barrels
are nevertheless extremely accurate -- which is a testimony to the
company's commitment to craftsmanship. The barrel is then High Pressure Magnetic Particle Inspected,
which is a non- destructive test consisting of firing proof loads to
identify any possible imperfections such as fractures, inclusions,
stringers or voids.
The barrel has a 1:7" twist rate that is fast
enough to stabilize heavy bullets like the 77gr match round, but still
capable of accurately firing standard 55gr ball ammo. The Daniel Defense
V7 is chambered for 5.56 NATO cartridges , which allows you to safely
fire both full power 5.56 loads or lower powered .223 rounds
interchangeably without adjustment to the gas system.
The M4
feed ramps ensure proper feeding of ammunition to help eliminate
malfunctions, even during rapid fire. The muzzle device is a Daniel
Defense flash suppressor constructed of 17-4 PH stainless steel that is
salt bath nitride finished.
A 6- position Daniel Defense "Soft Touch Overmolded"
collapsible stock is constructed of glass filled polymer and allows the
shooter to adjust length of pull to their personal preference. A Daniel
Defense RIS III 13.0 free- float handguard provides attachment points
for lights, lasers or a tactical foregrip. In addition, the rear pistol
grip is Soft Touch Overmolded to provide control and improved handling.
All
rifle dimensions are mil-spec. The Daniel Defense DD4 is equipped with a
bolt that has been magnetic particle inspected, shot peened and
pressure tested to ensure that it's structurally sound and will not
fail. Similarly, the gas key has been properly staked to the bolt
carrier. An ergonomic design makes the charging handle, safety selector,
magazine release and bolt catch easy to access.
Both upper and
lower receivers are forged from durable, lightweight aircraft grade CNC
machined 7075-T6 aluminum that is then Type III hard coat anodized per
military spec to provide wear and corrosion resistance. The upper,
lower, and handguard are Cerakote finished in Mil-Spec+ brown. Due to
the fact the bolt locks into a steel extension on the barrel and not the
receiver, the Daniel Defense DD4 can easily use such lightweight
construction materials without sacrificing structural integrity.
The
rifle weighs in at just 6.2 pounds and is a fast handling carbine. It
includes one 32- round Daniel Defense polymer mag. All steel parts wear
heavy mil- spec phosphate coatings, which include the barrel. Build
quality is outstanding -- there is zero play between the upper and lower
receiver, plus the CNC machined parts fit together like the gears found
inside a finely made watch.
The full- length flat- top Picatinny
rail provides a versatile mounting surface for standard the scout
length eye relief optics, but no sights are included. In the rare event a
round fails to go into battery, the rifle is equipped with a forward
assist. Similarly, a spring loaded receiver dust cover is designed to
keep out dirt and other debris from entering the action, but instantly
opens after the first shot.
The trigger is crisp and breaks cleanly at around four pounds. For repair, the rifle is backed by a 100% satisfaction guarantee against defects in original materials and workmanship.
Overall, the Daniel Defense DD4 is a highly accurate, well built, mil-
spec AR-15 rifle over-engineered for a lifetime of reliable service.
