Low prices on the Armscor Model 206 Spurless 2" Matte Nickel .38 Special start at Champion Firearms-
The Affordable Wheel Gun. Here in the United States, Armscor is best known as the manufacturer of the immensely popular Rock Island line of 1911 pistols. Founded in 1905 by a pair of Englishmen in the Philippines, the company first began as a sporting goods store and haberdashery.
Then in 1941, the Japanese confiscated all firearms during the occupation of the Philippines, leaving Armscor to survive solely on the sales of clothing and related accessories. After World War II, the Philippine government granted the company a license to manufacture firearms and ammunition under the trade name Squires Bingham & Co. with its present day USA subsidiary Armscor Precision International.
The Armscor revolver line can trace its roots back to 1970 with the introduction of the company's first double action design-- a .38 Special based on Colt lock-work. Unlike the Colt Detective Special counterpart, which included a hammer mounted firing pin, the modern Armscor Model 206 revolver features a "floating" frame mounted firing pin with a transfer bar safety similar to the Colt King Cobra.
In the unlikely event the gun is dropped, this means it will not discharge until the trigger is squeezed. Other modern upgrades include replacing the Detective Special's leaf style hammer spring with a stronger coil spring.
A slightly enlarged trigger guard along with improved grips have been added to the package. Like the original Colt design, the Armscor Model 206 has a 6- shot cylinder with a 2- inch snub nose barrel for maximum concealment.
A set of checkered hardwood contoured grips helps to maintain a small profile while an shrouded, spurless hammer provides concealability with its low profile, snag reducing design. This revolver was designed as a close range personal defense handgun and therefore includes both fixed front and rear sights.
For strength and greatly increased durability, the frame is constructed out of 4140 ordnance grade steel. The double action trigger pull weight is fairly standard at 12- pounds, while single action breaks much lighter.
A black oxide finish provides excellent durability and has been professionally applied. For a small frame revolver, the gun is certainly no flyweight and tips the scales at a beefy 25- ounces unloaded.
It is backed by a lifetime warranty from the manufacturer. Overall, the Armscor 206 is a well priced, solidly built handgun designed to save your life in an emergency.
